What this is

Taiwanrail is a free timetable and fare search for Taiwan public transport: Taiwan Railway (TRA), Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), seven metro and light-rail systems (Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung and Kaohsiung MRT, Kaohsiung and Danhai LRT), and door-to-door journey planning. No account is needed.

It is an independent, unofficial site. It is not affiliated with Taiwan Railway Corporation, Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation or any metro operator. Buy tickets through the official channels.

Where the data comes from

Timetables, fares and station lists come from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications TDX open data platform. They are refreshed automatically every four days and published with the site. Daily timetables cover roughly the next two weeks, so extra trains and cancellations already announced by the operator are included; dates beyond that use the regular weekly timetable. The current timetable data is as of 2026-11-05.

TRA delays and metro arrival boards are fetched live when you search. THSR publishes no live delay feed, so THSR trains never show a delay figure. Place-name search uses OpenStreetMap Nominatim; YouBike station data comes from data.taipei.

Accuracy

Data is shown as published by TDX and can lag behind changes made at short notice. Before travelling, check station announcements or the operator’s own app, especially during typhoons, maintenance and holidays.

Some pages show travel offers labelled “贊助／合作推薦” (sponsored / partner). The site may earn a commission when you use one. Sponsored offers never change train, fare or route results.

Privacy

When you search, the site records the stations, travel date, result count, language, device type, browser and the approximate region derived from your IP address (country and city), to see which routes people use. Your precise location is recorded only if you allow the browser to share it. Feedback you send through the in-app form is stored together with the same device, browser and approximate-region details.

Favourite trains, recent searches and the offline snapshot stay in your browser’s local storage and are not uploaded. Google Analytics measures page views.
